In-Kind Donations

As one of only twenty universities in the world participating in the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon 2009, TEAM BeauSoleil of UL Lafayette is meeting the challenges of hurricane rebuilding, affordability, and environmental sustainability on a worldwide stage. In-Kind donation help TEAM BeauSoleil fulfill our goals by providing the materials, tools, and equipment for the home. These donations also allow us the opportunity to promote products that we believe are of great value and push industry standards higher for environmentally friendly products.

TEAM BeauSoleil has privately raised approximately half of the funds required for the project, and we encourage you to help us achieve our final goal. We would like you to become a partner in the BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home. We need your expertise, information about installation and products, and financial backing. Through the high exposure of the Solar Decathlon, partners could receive incredible recognition on a local, regional, and national level. In 2007, there were 120,000 visitors on the mall and approximately 1 billion media impressions for the 2007 Solar Decathlon. The 2009 Decathlon is poised to strongly increase these numbers due to the growing interest in green design and living.

Due to the requirements we have set as a team, there are certain standards for in-kind donations. We prefer the products that are produced within 500 mile radius of Lafayette, LA; have a high percentage for recycle/reuse, have low toxicity (VOC’s, pesticides, biocides, heavy metals, and toxins rates,) have minimal to zero toxins released into the environment during production such as CO2, fossil and fuel emissions, CFC’s, and HCFC’s, and are free of defects and flaws. All options for in-kind should be submitted to TEAM BeauSoleil for evaluation and review of sustainability/use in the home in the form of samples and/or photographs with specs on previous use, age, and material composition. The evaluation of the product does not guarantee use in the home.

We appreciate your contribution to the BeauSoleil Louisiana Solar Home. Your support is vital to the success of our home. Thank you for your interest in this sustainable and marketable cause for a better future. We look forward to working with you.
